Abstract

Cellulose panels in vegetable materials such as cane, straw, wood fibre and wood shavings, are coated with a compsn. contg. a polyester resin pref. an isophthalic resin, a hardener pref. a peroxide catalyst, 50-250% (based on the wt. fo resin) of a mineral filler pref. CaCO3 or dolimite, 20-100 % of weather-proofing agent pref. BaSO4, slate powder or lava powder, 4-7% of a thixotropic agent, pref. colloidal SiO2, and 10-50% of a glossing agent, pref. talc or plastic. Pigments or dyes may be added. The coating is pref. applied at 7-8 kg/m2 of panel. The coated panels are used for chalets or similar light structures. They have good hardness, water-tightness, fire resistance, and a remarkable resistance to decay.
