Abstract

The yarn passes around a roller (1) and is drawn off the roller against a freely rotatable deformable disc mounted concentrically with the roller, the draw off tension and angle being such that the yarn deforms the disc. Pref. the yarn is drawn off radially with respect to the disc at angle of 30-90 degrees (pref. 50 degrees) to the plane of the disc. Pref. the roller and disc are of synthetic or natural rubber. The device is simple and cheap to produce and operate, and produces good results without damaging the yarn.
