Abstract
Bonding textiles using a thin, flexible, flat, porous carrier sheet coated on one side with a thermoplastic adhesive in an amount sufficient to permeate both sides of the sheet under heat and pressure. The adhesive sheet is pref. a thin fibre fleece carrying an adhesive which may be continuous or in a dot or zone pattern. The adhesive used may be a two-component material with differential softening points so that textiles can be provisionally bonded before sewing at one temperature, and finally pressed at a higher temp. to activate the other adhesive. Suitable adhesive combination s a polyamide terpolymer (low melting componnet) and a low pressure polyethylene (high melting component) in a ratio 1/4 to 1/1 (esp. 1/2 to 1/3).
