Abstract

The cheese is dispensed from a battery of moulding tubes on to a support plate carrying a mounting frame and the filled frames stacked automatically with intermediate drainage grids before onward movement to e.g. the maturing rooms. The stacking is carried out by a time programmed automatic system in conjunction with height and quantity measuring instruments at the filling and stacking stations. Level with the support plate is a transfer plate to assist in the stacking operation and the surface of this plate, at least, is coated with a highly slippery material esp. PTFE, Additionally a spray for inert lubricating liquid esp. milk, is placed above the transfer plate. Reduced cycle time and hence higher throughput are achieved.
