Abstract

The materials consist of a mixture of petroleum wax and polymer, with addn. of a metallic flake pigment, in an amt. >=0.05%, pref. 5 to 50%. The pigment is pref. Al, Cu, Zn, Sn, Fe, Ag or Au and the particles are coated with (12-22C) fatty acid. The wax-polymer mixts. contain 5-99 (pref. 30-50)% wax and 1-70 (pref. 5-30)% polymers, such as polyethyelene, ethylene-vinyl acetate and ethylene-ethyl acrylate co-polymers. The compsns. used to mfd. objects, vegetable surfaces, etc. to provide improved thermal insulation properties, as a result of the reflective properties of the metallic pigment.
