Abstract

1,184,222. Coated abrasive products. ARMOUR & CO. 14 March, 1967 [16 March, 1966], No. 11990/67. Heading C4V. An abrasive product comprises a coated abrasive cloth and a friction reducing back coat thereon, said back coat comprising a wax lubricant and an insoluble alkyd resin binder. The weight ratio of said binder to said lubricant may be in the range of 2 : 1 to 10 : 1. The abrasive cloth may include impregnants, binders and sizes which may be glue, phenolic resin, epoxy resin, alkyd resin, urea-formaldehyde resin, vinyl resin or ethyl cellulose. The abrasive grits may be silicone carbide or aluminium oxide. The lubricant may be a paraffin base wax. The back coat may be applied at the rate of 0À02-0À07 ounce of solid per square foot.
