[Also in Division C3] Coated articles comprise a rigid base material having a coating thereon of a composition comprising, on a weight basis as percentages of the whole: (a) from 40 to 80% of a particulate inorganic siliceous material; (b) from 1 to 40% of an inorganic boron-containing compound and (c) from 10 to 45% of an unsaturated polyester resin, the components (a), (b) and (c) being selected so that the combined weight (a) plus (b) is in excess of the weight of (c) and the total weight of (a), (b) and (c) is at least 90%. In Example 2 a wood panel is coated.
