Abstract

Gas scrubber with no moving parts, no spray-jets to become blocked, and requiring a water supply at gravity head only, eliminating the conventional pumping system. Essentially, a gas stream rising through the scrubber is used to induce a fine spray of liquid into a turbulent scrubbing action of the gas. Scrubbing efficiency is improved if the flow direction of the gas stream is turned, after it has contacted the liquid, through 140 degrees for a limited travel before being redirected upwards. In addition to dust removal from liquids, the scrubber can be used to eliminate a soluble gas from a mixture with an insoluble gas.
