Abstract

Leather skins are ornamented on the epidermis with a desired pattern by placing the epidermis loosely on a flat support and treating the opposite side of the skins with an oxygen acetylene flame whose tip is held from 1 to 3 cm above the skin and which is displaced over the skin at a rate and in a manner to produce the required pattern on the epidermis. Contraction of the opposite side results in a pattern on the epidermis.
