Abstract

Hydrophilic resin foams with open pores are filled with a substance for controlling the growth of plants and/or with seeds by projecting the substances and/or seeds into the substrate in the form of solid particles by pneumatic pressure. The solid material e.g. ions of nutritive agents bonded to ion exchange resin, are uniformly incorporated into the foam substrate pref. in the zone of the plant roots. Excellent plant growth can be obtained on the foam substrates.
