Abstract
Generation of uniform tension in a wire leaving an extrusion press is effected by a vertically displaceable roll mounted on a sliding bush, which is free to move on a vertical straight guide the wire being passed under the roll after passing through a cooling device and over a support roll, and prior to is passage between a support roll attached to a flywheel and a roll attached to a spring loaded layer. In the prefd. version, the rotational movement to the flywheel is supplied by the action of the coiling machine pulling the wire through the system. The method is particularly intended for use in connection with Al wire extrusion.
