Process for biologically degrading the hydrocarbon pollutants of sea water in which Candida pseudotropicalis is cultured on an opt. sterile nutrient medium, after it has been adapted to a hydrocarbon food source, the medium contg. 0.1-100 vol.% hydrocarbon, at 0-45 degrees C and pH 3-8.
