Abstract

The tube is bent around a mandrel by two bending rollers which are spaced along the mandrel axis. One of the rollers rotates about the mandrel while, simultaneously, the mandrel itself rotates about its longitudinal axis in the direction, but with an annular speed half that of the roller. The mandrel is mounted between two discoid stops which are co-axial with it. One of the rollers is mounted on a fixed base and the other is mounted on a holder fixed to a cylinder coaxial with the mandrel. The first part of the spiral is formed in the annular space between the trajectory of the rotating roller and the mandrel, and the other part is formed parallel to the first part by contact between the tube and the fixed roller while being driven by the rotating mandrel.
