Abstract

Ferritic stainless steel, suitable for large reactors and appts. retaining ductility after welding and resistance to intergranular corrosion, contains Fe and 19-35 wt.% Cr, 0-28 wt.% C + N and Al and Ti contents such that alloy compsn. falls within defined area. Pref. steel contains 20-32% Cr, 0-1.5 % Mo (increases corrosion resistance), 0.6-1.2 % Ti, 0-0.5% Al, 0-1000 ppm C + N, bal. Fe, more pref. 25-29% Cr, 0-1.5 Mo, 0.9-1.5 (more pref. 0.75-1.4) % Ti, 0-1.5% Al, (Ti + Al 2.5 (2.4)), 800 (500) ppm max. C + N, bal. Fe.
