Abstract

Novel vincamine alkaloids of the formula are obtained by extraction of the plant "Crioceras longiflorus" (Pierre) with an organic solvent after crushing and pretreatment with alkali. The extracts are then themselves extracted with acid, this acid extract made alkaline and extracted with an organic solvent to give the total alkaloids. These are then separated by chromatography to give the above alkaloids; 14-dehydrovincamine and 16-epi-14-dehydrovincamine.
