Abstract

1,175,483. Ecdysterone; 5-hydroxy-ecdysterone. CESKOSLOVENSKA AKADEMIE VED. 9 Feb., 1968 [9 Feb., 1967], No. 6607/68. Heading C2U. Ecdysterone and/or the novel compound 5#- hydroxy-ecdysterone are extracted from the plant polypodium vulgare with an appropriate solvent and isolated from the extract by conventional procedures. A mixture of the two products thus obtained is separable by chromatography. Both products are said to exhibit moulting activity in insects.
