Abstract
A turbo separator to separate the heavy phase from polyphase media in turbines of nuclear power stations has guide vanes with a decreasing discharge angle from root to periphery to assist separation in a peripheral trap chamber. The impeller blades are given a profile which changes from an impulse type at the root, with a low relative blade pitch, to a much thinner profile at the periphery and a longer chord, yet at the same relative pitch.
