Abstract

In a compression moulding process using a two part mould the object is moulded in contact with the top half and remains there while the two parts are separated, the moulding being subsequently extracted from the top half. The process avoideds the disadvantage of removing a moulding with a flash line along the junction of the mould halves and the difficulties of removing it from the bottom half of the mould. The moulding is pref. supplied through a conduit in the bottom mould half using a piston to force the material into the space. The top mould half is provided with a rim which holds the moulding temporarily in contact with it and the bottom half has a groove to receive a metal reinforcement. The moulding is ejected after opening the mould by means of a spring operated extractor.
