Abstract

The short fibres are cleaned, mixed with resins and other additives which are polymerised to yield rigid products which may be cut up and given a surface treatment. Sheets for building and heat and sound insulation may be made, which are of low cost and provide reasonable mechanical properties and dimensional stability. A mixture of resins of different m.pt may be used e.g. esterified colophony and phenolic resins added at 5-10% of the fibres.
