Abstract
A water-soluble resin is obtained by reacting (A) a linear polymer with units of formula:- (in which R is H or lower alkyl and R' is H or a (substd) alkyl) with (B) an epihalohydrin, pref. epichlorohydrin. The resins impart good wet- and dry-strength to paper. The paper is particularly suitable as packing paper, and for paper and carrier bags.
