Abstract

Blow moulding unit with more than one (chille) blowing nozzle which can reciprocate with respect to the parison axis to follow up the axial contraction of the neck section and compensate for local material orientation as the body of the moulding is expanded to relatively greater diameters. Pref. the nozzles can rotate or oscillate in turn to the parison station, allowing more time for contraction and set-up than for parison formation and blowing. Esp. for making (high density polyethylene) containers for e.g. petrol for which necks with dimensions and roundness to close tolerances are required to ensure a good fit/seal with a standard cap.
