Abstract
In a process for assembling two sheets of different nature, particularly metal sheets, a layer of non-vulcanised elastomer is placed on one side of one of the sheets, the two sheets are placed together with the elastomer between, and the elastomer is vulcanised by raising the temp. The elastomer may be e.g. chloroprene and may be inserted in the form of a thin calendered sheet of about 2 mm. and subjected to pressure. A thick sheet of ordinary steel may be bonded to a thin sheet of stainless steel or other material and the surfaces pretreated by sandblasting, embossing or by chemicals. Composite metal sheets with different metal surfaces may be simply formed, having excellent mechanical and chemical resistance.
