Abstract

Test reagent for diagnosis and determination of catechols in body fluids, such as urine and serum, particularly useful for controlling treatment of Parkinson's disease with L-Dopa, where metabolites found in urine consist of L-Dopa and derivs. with o-dihydroxyphenyl groups, contains a water-soluble ferrous salt, pref. FeSO4. 7H2O, in an acid aqs. solution, a complexing agent for the Fe2+ ions, pref. Na citrate, an anti-oxidant, pref. Na bisulphite, and a buffer consisting of an alkanolamine or alkanediolamine pref. tris-(hydroxymethyl)-aminomethane.
