Abstract

A roller having an associated during and braking mechanism is carried between each of the four pairs of arms of two cross-shaped end plates carried on rotatable shaft, and web is wound off a first web roll carried on one roller, fed through a treatment apparatus (e.g. a film coating device) and wound-onto the diametrically opposed roller. The end of the web is secured to the leading edge of a second web drawn from a second web roll on another roller, and after passing through the treatment apparatus the two are separated and the leading edge of the second web wound onto the fourth roller. The shaft is subsequently rotated to move the second web roll to the feed position. Web is continuously passed through the treatment apparatus using a single feed and wind up device.
