Abstract
The ski is reinforced with arrays of parallel rods or tubes supported by perforated cross-frames made of material compatible with that from which the ski body is to be moulded. The frames wedge into the mould and have windows and profile recesses to allow the injection stream to flood the cavity easily. Pref. the rod are slightly webbed to anchor them in the moulding. The reinforcement near the ski sole may be alternatively a profiled board. Esp. for reinforcing skis moulded from ABS. A h igh stiffness/weight ratio results from positively locating the reinforcement close to the moulding surface.
