Abstract
The width of the weld gap is measured by a scanner and converted to an electrical signal stored in a magnetisable band. This is coupled mech. or elec. with a constant welding parameter. After an interval corresponding to the operation of the scanner and the weld head, the signal is withdrawn from the store and evaluated to control the weld seam formation by one or more parameters affecting the rate of fusion and/or by the welding speed and/or the rotation and/or the deformation of the strip electrode.
