Abstract
The foams are produced from a solution of a foam-developer and a solution of an aminoplast resin, by adding an ester or an amide of a carboxylic acid to 1 or both of these solution, and then processing to a foam in the usual way. After the foam has become rigid, it disintegrates ttoa powder, without the necessity for grinding. The powdery foam is used as a heat-insulator, as an additive to building materials, for example for reducing the heat-conductivity of plaster. The foam powder can also be used to remove oil from oil-contaminated water, and as a soil-improver in agriculture.
