Abstract
Segregation process The process concerns obtaining nickel- and/or copper rich concentrates from nickel- and/or copper containing ores, ore-concentrates and similar materials, particularly ores such as iron. The nickel- and/or copper containing ore, concentrate etc. is fired in a rotary kiln furnace at a temperature in the region of 700 to 1200 degrees C. The material is then mixed with a solid chlorination medium and carbonaceous materials, in an end-zone of the furnace, with the most careful avoidance of gas-movement.
