Abstract

Several injection channels are connected to the joints of the mould, the interval between the channels being equal to or less than from them to the centre of the mould. The distance from an injection channel to the nearest mould surface joint is pref. 0- to 50mm. and less than the distance between adjacent channels, which in turn is more than half the distance between facing channels. The mould is pref. provided with one or more devices such as pneumatically controlled ball valves for equalising gas pressure along the flow fronts or towards their point of union. Homogeneous mouldings of expanded material may be produced without loss of expanding agent through the mould joints, which are rapidly blocked by material.
