Abstract

Microcellular sound insulating material comprises a mixture of a clay soil and 10-35 wt. % of a foreign body combustible at 150-300 degrees C which is homogenized and hydrated and made into a preform of the desired shape and fired at 500-900 degrees C. Spec. the pore former is powdered cork.
