Abstract

Mass spectrometer is used in conjunction with gas chromatograph and accelerating potential is produced by a generator and a number of variable reference potential generators with a periodically operating commutator being used to add the reference potential to the accelerating potential. The potentials produced each cause the detection of a different ion in the detector. A second commutator in sync with the first is connected to the detector output, and various sampling circuits are connected to it, and hence to output during detection of a given ion, and these are connected to a multichannel recorder.
