Abstract
Iron mineral is treated in the crude molten state in a blast furnace by the usual combustibles and oxygen which is blown into the hearth by common tubes with the recycle gas obtained from the throat gas, by producing in the hearth of the blast furnace, only from the combustible and the oxygen, the quantity of reducing gas consumed later in the complete indirect reduction, recovering the total quantity of gas leaving the furnace throat, consumed in part in the complete indirect reduction, and leading it to a gas separator in which the gaseous volume consumed in the complete indirect reduction, which is equal to that created in the hearth from the combustibles, is extracted from the throat gas, and introducing the quantity of unconsumed reducing gas thus obtained with the oxygen by common tubes into the blast furnace, as recycle gas for the formation of the excess of gas necessary for a complete indirect reduction, and for the production of the quantity of gas required for sufficient thermal treatment.
