Abstract

Fire resistant composition consisting of polyvinyl chloride, plasticised by self extinguishing agents, contains finely ground metal carbonates and/or oxides with neutral stabilisers. The product is used as cable insulation. The carbonates or oxides with stabilisers absorb the corrosive chlorides produced by thermal degradation and stabilise the electrical properties of the material.
