Abstract

Insecticidal compositions containing a phosphoric ester having at least one alkyl group of 1-3C and an alcohol having at least one free OH group are stabilised by the addition of 0.1-20% of at least one compound containing an epoxide group. Preferably the epoxy-compound is an alkyl or cycloalkyl 9,10-stearate, or a glyceride containing epoxy stearic acid, such as epoxidised soya oil, sunflower oil, linseed oil or China wood oil. The phosphoric ester is pref. dichlorodimethyl vinyl phosphate (DDVP). Addition of an alcohol aids the solubility of the ester but slowly brings about alcoholysis and loss of activity. The addition of the epoxide prevents the alcoholysis.
