Abstract

Gas is detected while mixed with a different gas. A discharge is formed in the gas and produces a normal degree of ionisation while the gas is in a normal state. The degree of ionisation is measured and compared with normal, to determine if a contaminating gas is present. Pref. a positive discharge is used. Apparatus is described.
