Abstract

Plates are prepared by depositing the following layers on a support made of metals, paper or organic polymers: (1) a layer of a hydrophobic, oleophilic resin pref. chosen from polyvinyl butyrals, polyvinyl acetals, polyvinyl esters, styrene polymers, chlorinated polyvinyls, vinyl polymers, polyacrylic esters or other acrylic polymers. This layer itself can be the support and in such a case it is prepared from a polyolefins, polyvinyls, vinylidene polymers, polyamides, polyesters, polyurethanes, polycarbonates, esters of cellulose or phenolic resins. (2) A photosensitive layer having a strongly tanned ligand. After exposure the photosensitive layer is developed and then treated with a solution which simultaneously dissolves the metallic silver and degrades or eliminates the tanned ligand from the exposed areas.
