Abstract

The method which avoids the difficulties of the contact process produces pure and concentrated acid in a simple installation of nitrogen oxide towers, by adding to the current apparatus heat exchange, washing and drying systems the importance of which is a function of the degree of acid purity and concentration required. Denitrification, concentration and cid prodn. is effected in different towers - the concentration tower being wetted with the "acid-in-production" whilst removing acid for wetting the nitrogen oxides recovery towers without unnecessary concentration. Water vapour and acid spray leaving the concentration tower are absorbed by the acid production reactions in the following towers.
