Abstract

The compressed fluid below the support plate of the filter elements consists of a gaseous fluid which is insoluble or only slightly soluble in the liquid in the apparatus' lower part. It does not modify the chemical property of the liquid which has enough surface tension at the level of the filter element's pores to oppose the gas' passage through them and allows the formation of a gas cushion below the plate. Used in washing liquid filters.
