Abstract

The apparatus has a mechanical purifier in the form of a rotating worm gear placed inside the gas inlet pipe, with its outside diameter nearly equal to the inside diameter of the tube. The centrifugal force deposits the dust from the flowing gas on the wall from where it is then carried away by the worm. The apparatus can be used for sampling furnace gases if water cooling is provided. The apparatus can be used for horizontal or downwards inclined gas inlet pipes and there is no danger of blocking or furring.
