Abstract
Monomeric and polymeric organo-silicon cpds. contg. one or more amine oxide groups of formula (in which R is divalent 2-21C hydrocarbon joined to the N by a satd. C atom, and X is alkyl, cycloalkyl or alkenyl with at least 3C, aralkyl, alkoxyalkyl, or organosilyl or -siloxy) pref. silane has formula (CH3)2NO(CH2)3Si(CH3)3 and the siloxane (CH3)2(CH3)2 (CH3)2NO(CH2)3Si OSiCH3 are prepd. by oxidation of an organo-silicon cpd. contg. at least one group joined to the Si of formula RNX2 with a suitable oxidising agent e.g. h2o2 or O3 at pref. 20-35 degrees C. The invention permits prep. of water-sol. siloxane polymers which are cross-linked and converted into insol. products by heating. The polymers are used to water-proof textiles and other materials.
