Abstract
Sampling element is mounted inside the open end of a tube made of insulating material. Device comprises a metal mould open at one of its ends arranged within and at the mouth of a tube support consisting of insulating material with its closed end turned towards this mouth, while a slit or hole is provided in this tube support to allow metal to penetrate the mould. Advantage: overcomes the drawbacks encountered with sampling with the aid of a long-handled ladle where the molten sample is poured into a cold mould, the composition of the sample undergoing changes during the transfer of metal from ladle to mould.
