Abstract

Junction sleeve of synthetic thermoplastic material e.g. polyethylene is for metallic sheathed cables, esp transmission cables, and the metallic sheath is earthed in the region of the sleeve. The earthing is carried out by a metallic connection pref. of copper, which pref. is sealed into the body of the sleeve and is connected conductively with the metallic sheath and the surrounding ground. Pref. the metallic connection is coated with suitable adhering product, e.g. an ethylene acrylic copolymer. Allows the shunting to earth of induced currents without the necessity of making the junction sleeve of metal.
