Abstract

Two layer envelope for sanitary articles comprising a layer of water resistive material and a layer of water soluble material. Pref. the water solubility is regulated for a certain period. The two layers may be joined by glueing and pref. the water resistant layer forms the surface applied to the human body. The water soluble layer may be made of fibres containing a soluble binder for example, a mixture of a polyvinyl ester and methyl cellulose or polyacrylamide. Article may be sanitary towel or baby's napkin. Disposal is made easier as article breaks up when in contact with large volume of water.
