Abstract

Pesticidal compositions containing 1,2-benzisothiazoles where X = NO2 or halogen n = 1 or 2 R = H or alkyl Insect chemosterilants. 115 Parts 2,6-dichlorobenzal chloride, 16 parts sulphur and 60 parts ammonia in 125 parts sulphur, 60 parts ammonia and 125 parts benzene were mixed in an autoclave and heated for 6 hours at 150 deg. C. The product is filtered and the filtrate evaporated. The residue was distilled to give 61 parts of a product which crystallised, m.pt. 54 deg. C, and was identified as (I) Xn = 4-Cl, R = H.0.1% of this product in fly food sterilised houseflies.
