Abstract

1,142,170. Chloroacetyl carbamates. HERCULES Inc. 24 May, 1966 [25 May, 1965; 4 April, 1966], No. 23211/66. Heading C2C. [Also in Division A5] The invention comprises m-alkylphenyl N- chloroacetyl-N-methyl carbamates of the formula in which R denotes an alkyl radical of 1-4 carbon atoms and n is 1, 2 or 3. The compounds may be prepared by heating an appropriate m-alkylphenyl-N-methyl carbamate with an appropriately substituted acetyl chloride. Thus, in a typical example, m-isopropylphenyl- N-methyl carbamate is heated with dichloroacetyl chloride to yield m-isopropylphenyl N- dichloro-acetyl-N-methyl carbamate. Other examples are given also. The products are useful as pesticides (see Division A5).
