Abstract
A thermoplastic elastomer comprises the reaction product (I) of a polydiene and maleic anhydride, whose maleic anhydride content has been partially or completely neutralised with a non-elastomeric polymer (II) containing tertiary amino groups. The maleic anhydride content of (I) is 2 to 22%, especially 5 to 10%. In contrast to other rubber modified polymers these compositions are optically clear and have a much higher tensile strength. They can be processed on any of the usual machines for thermoplastics. The diene is isoprene or butadiene. (II) is based on vinyl pyridine or vinyl quinoline.
