Cephalosporin C-type cpds. of the general formula:- where R1 = HO, (1-8C)acyloxy, tert. amino R2 = HO (when R1 = HO, acyloxy) or O- (when R1 = tert. amino) or R1+R2= -O- R = cyclo(butyl, pentyl), naphthyl, adamantyl; these may be substd. by: halogen, NO2, CF3, (1-4C)alkyl, (1-2C)alkoxy, together with pharm. accept. salts, esters and amides thereof. 7-Acylamino derivs. of cephalosporanic acid:- alpha- and beta-naphthoyl adamantane-CO Active agst. Staph. albus, B.subtilis, Sarcina lutea. Also agst. resistant Staph.
