Abstract
Impregnator is for continuously manufacturing laminated tubes with a sealed sheath of e.g. polyethylene, surrounded by a loading of glass/polyester laminate, or glass/epoxy. The impregnating monomer is fed in through orifices in the cylinder wall, by means of a revolving joint. Specifically, the extruded sheath is wound with 2 or more layers of glass fibres before impregnation. The i.d. of the steel cylinder is several mm. greater than the o.d. of the tube being made.
