[Also in Division F4] A tubular member 12 is joined to an article 22 into which extends a circular, tapered aperture 12 by positioning the correspondingly tapered end of the tube in the aperture and pressing the tube and the article together to cause the tube to engage in the aperture and to distort an adhesive coating 16, which covers the tapered end at least of the tube, into intimate contact with the walls 24 of the aperture. The adhesive, which is of polypropylene and/or epoxy resin and/or urethane cures itself after assembly. Alternatively it may be a plastic material filled with finely divided metal particles and which may be burnt out to leave the metal filler securely bonded in place. Figure 2 shows a construction in which a tube tapered at both ends is used to join the two sections 20 and 21 of a radiator of which the internal spaces are shown in part above and below the tube. A space 26 is allowed to accommodate the flow of adhesive additional to that which extrudes outside at 30a.
