Abstract

The invention relates to a plant for purifying blister copper which comes from a conversion furnace, which plant comprises a number of anode furnaces. In order to ensure that the plant is simple and has a small assembly area, and in order to ensure that there will not be any need to use any heat-preserving devices, each anode furnace contains a cylindrical furnace body 21 having a casing 21b and two end plates 21a which are installed at the two ends of the casing part, with the furnace body comprising an axle and being arranged rotatably and the axle extending horizontally, with heating devices 26 having been coupled to the furnace body in order to maintain the furnace at an elevated temperature, with the furnace body 21 having been coupled to a drive 25 in order to rotate the furnace between the positions for receiving and purifying the blister copper, with the casing part 21b of the furnace body exhibiting an opening 30 for receiving blister copper, which opening extends peripherally along the casing part and is arranged such that the said opening is directed upwards both in the position for receiving the blister copper and in the said purification position, and with the said anode furnaces having been coupled together in parallel such that one end of each anode furnace is directed towards the conversion furnace, with the casing parts 21b of the anode furnaces which are located alongside each other lying against each other. The invention also relates to an improved anode furnace. <IMAGE>
